New book: “Gender in the Office. Conversations about Body, Gender, and Relationships” by Prof. Barbara Józefik, Katarzyna Sroczyńska, Publishing House Więź
Gender issues addressed responsibly, thoroughly, and with great sensitivity.
***
What is happening between the genders? In response to this question, Professor Barbara Józefik provides an in-depth analysis, problematizing a number of fundamental issues, avoiding generalizations and shunning radicalism. At the same time, she does this personally and – as an experienced psychotherapist – referring to her own practice. The feminist perspective is situated within a historical, sociological, and cultural context. Thanks to the author's impressive erudition, the reader receives a profound description of “gender phenomena,” and an additional value of this extraordinary book is the encounter with philosophical and anthropological thought from Plato and St. Augustine to Judith Butler and Michel Foucault.
Prof. Bogdan de Barbaro
The book “Gender in the Office” should be read by anyone interested in humanity, its functioning and problems, as well as how to help in moments of psychological crisis. In this engaging interview, Professor Barbara Józefik, a respected psychologist and psychotherapist, presents a vision of humanity in a broad perspective of biological, social, and cultural conditions. The reflections on the body contained in the book are fascinating and extremely valuable for our self-development, as they reveal it as the foundation of our “self.” Prof. Barbara Józefik closely examines many issues, such as changing roles and attitudes of women, the currently very important issue of transgenderism, eating disorders, and the reception of therapeutic culture in society, always avoiding simplifications and reductionist approaches.
