'The End of Secrets' is an addition to the Castle space featuring a mobile reading room of queer poetic texts. Keeping in mind the recent exhibition organized by the institution addressing queer themes, namely 'The Power of Secrets' by Karol Radziszewski, the X-Philes collective is expanding its strategy of self-historization and broadening its context to include a contemporary, non-hierarchical, collective voice of the community.
10—24/01/2025
The project takes place as part of the Open Up! series.
On the opening day at 17:30, the Collective will be present on-site to talk about the installation.
The core of the project is an installation located in the U–jazdowski library. The object resembles a piece of furniture that combines the functions of a library catalog, a bookshelf, and a seating area for reading and writing. It is a compact, mobile reading room. Within the structure are publications related to queer poetry and a dispersed archive of the collective itself. The installation is intended to evolve over the course of the project and will be supplemented with additional books, notebooks, loose notes, or items provided by visiting individuals.
During the opening weekend of the installation, two workshops will take place:
▪ The first (11/01, 12:00) is a poetry writing workshop led by Tomek Gromadka. Using both creative writing techniques and personal and shared experiences and inspirations, participants will create texts that will then enrich the newly established reading room.
▪ The second planned workshop (12/01, 12:00) will be led by members of X-Philes and will focus on the collective's practice of translating poetry into visual language. Texts brought or created on-site will serve as the basis for collaboratively creating graphics. The outcome of the sessions will be works that – just like the earlier poetic texts – will be added to the installation and influence its shape.
