When was the last time you wrote something by hand?
Thoughts are easier to organize when they are written down – verba volant, scripta manent (words fly away, what is written remains).
We do not intend to change your handwriting, but we can suggest how to make it more legible and elegant. To this end, we will use the Palmer method, which was developed in the early 20th century to write faster while still maintaining a beautiful and harmonious shape of letters.
The Palmer method was developed at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries by Austin Palmer. Initially, it was used in offices (scribes had to keep up with the typing speed of typewriters!), and later in American schools.
If we dedicate enough attention and time to practice, Palmer script can have a positive impact on the shape of our everyday handwriting.
What will the classes look like?
In addition to learning the shapes of letters developed by Palmer (lowercase, uppercase, how to connect them, create words and sentences), during this course we will also work on:
trying to improve our own everyday handwriting,
improving our own signature,
designing our monogram in the form of a so-called flourish,
trying out other tools that we can use for writing every day.
Who is it for?
The workshops are suitable for beginners,
even those who have never held a calligraphic tool before will manage with the subject matter of the classes,
no “talent” or any artistic experience is required,
for those seeking tranquility, a creative atmosphere, a refuge,
for lovers of beauty, words, letters, paper, fountain pens, books,
a small group allows the teacher to approach each participant individually,
we invite all interested individuals over 16 years of age.
