On September 22, I invite you to a walk through the Old Powązki. This time we will stroll through the part of the necropolis located behind the IV Gate. Old Powązki, as one of the four national necropolises, attracts visitors at any time of the year. In autumn, it becomes a park full of colors and silence. While walking along the alleys, we will find the resting places of artists, industrialists, scientists, and politicians. The walk through the necropolis will also be an opportunity to engage with Warsaw's art from the 19th and 20th centuries.
During the walk, we will visit, among others, the graves of engineer Stanisław Kierbedź, Lt. Jan Wojsznar Opieliński, sculptor Hanna Nałkowska, Bolesław Prus, Father Ignacy Skorupka, politician and economist Władysław Grabski, and Bogusław Herse.
On the route, we will see works by artists such as Bolesław Syrewicz, Edward Wittig, Stefan Szyller, Wacław Szymanowski, and Bartłomiej Mazurek.
I invite you to the walk on September 22, 2024, at 2:00 PM.
We will meet at the IV Gate from the side of Powązkowska Street.
The walk will be led by historian, Varsavianist, and licensed Warsaw guide Adrian Sobieszczański.
