Returning to bookstore shelves, after years, is the already iconic title: 'How to Talk About Books You Haven't Read?' by Pierre Bayard. We considered this a wonderful opportunity to organize Unread Book Clubs. Under the guidance of moderators, we will discuss reading, non-reading, and those 'required readings' that we haven't managed to read.
The Warsaw meeting will be led by Anna Karczewska and editor Piotr Chojnacki.
Schedule of meetings:
📍 Warsaw September 18, 6:00 PM at the bookstore of the National Publishing Institute (registration a.karczewska@piw.pl)

'How to Talk About Books You Haven't Read?' is the most popular essay by Pierre Bayard, a French literary scholar and psychoanalyst, hiding a brilliant and humorous analysis of ways to engage with books under its provocative title.
Contrary to its provocative title, this book is not a guide for the ignorant who would like to pretend to be erudite. The French literary scholar deals with a phenomenon that is quite common but surrounded by a certain taboo: non-reading. Non-reading, especially when it concerns the canon of classics, is a source of shame, although, as Bayard states, it occurs frequently even among specialists. So perhaps it is time to recognize this non-reading as an equal way of engaging with books, equally creative and revealing about ourselves?
