Men's Journey with Songs of the Heart at IPRI in Kraków

Let me introduce myself: I am Foka – a Wanderer with Songs. I collect and share what moves me. With the help of a guitar I create a space to meet your own voice, other voices, Songs, and also what is inside us.

What are Songs of the Heart?

I call Songs those that I feel were created in Hearts and also go straight to Hearts. Songs carrying love for oneself, for others, for the Universe. Carrying joy, trust, comfort, release, letting go, forgiveness, and often prompting reflection. Soothing the soul, giving strength, inspiration, giving so much... Created by different people, from different cultures, sung in different languages, yet carrying universal messages that can resonate with anyone who opens to them.

What will the Journey with Songs of the Heart be like?

The Journey with Songs of the Heart is time and space to meet your voice, other voices, and what is inside you. Songs, if we allow them, can reach very deeply into our interior and touch different parts of what we understand as our “self.” Such a touch can evoke strong emotions and inner movement, which in turn can bring certain unconscious things up from our depths and move them closer to the surface.

Importantly, singing ability is not necessary to set out on the Journey with Songs of the Heart and experience what may happen during it. All that is needed is your permission to yourself to open to the Songs and what flows from your interior. I invite you to a space friendly both to people who sing freely and those who want to sing and move toward freedom in singing.

How will the Journey with Songs of the Heart look?

We will sit in a circle, and Songs will flow from us, in us and around us – Songs of the heart. Mindfulness and focus will accompany us, though there will also be joy and lightness. To ground ourselves in the “here and now,” we will begin with a short meditation (meditation experience is not necessary).

With the help of a guitar I will lead our singing, and I invite you to bring a rattle. I discourage other instruments so they don't distract from what is happening within you. I will also prepare the lyrics to make singing easier.

How to prepare?

• Come with openness to add your voice to the shared weaving of the sound space.
• We will sit on the floor. Each participant may have a blanket/cushion/bolster; if you have a favorite cushion, bring it with you.
• In the Institute space we move without shoes. It is warm there, but if you need, bring slippers or warm socks.
• Hot herbal drinks will be prepared and there will be the possibility to prepare something in the kitchen. There will be enough cups for everyone, but I encourage bringing your own closed container for beverages.
• If you need reading glasses, bring them so you can use the songbook.

• 📍 Institute of Psychoeducation and Integral Development: ul. Powroźnicza 6/2, Kraków
• Entrance from the front of the building; the Journey will take place in the Alpine room of the Institute on the 1st floor

• 💰 100–200 PLN in cash on site, depending on your ability and willingness to give thanks/support
• If the amount exceeds your means, when signing up let us know what you propose – let's talk (a clink of coins is not the only form of energetic exchange).
