    About the event

We invite you to a special author meeting with Andrzej Krawczyk dedicated to his latest book entitled “You Can Still Hear This Music. Biłgoraj — The Lost Shtetl”.

Biłgoraj, through the works of Isaac Bashevis Singer, became a global symbol of the shtetl. In his work, Andrzej Krawczyk goes a step further — he pierces literary myths to reveal the real, everyday experiences of the city's Jewish inhabitants. It is a fascinating lesson in microhistory that helps to understand the fate of the community that for centuries shaped the identity of our region. Come and find out what lies beneath the layer of symbols.
