    About the event

We invite you to a special author meeting with Andrzej Krawczyk, dedicated to his latest book titled “You Can Still Hear That Music. Biłgoraj — a Lost Shtetl”. Thanks to the work of Isaac Bashevis Singer, Biłgoraj became a global symbol of the shtetl. In his work, however, Andrzej Krawczyk goes a step further — he breaks through literary myths to reveal the real, everyday experiences of the city’s Jewish inhabitants. It’s a fascinating microhistory lesson that helps to understand the fate of the community that for centuries shaped the identity of our region.

Come and find out what lies beneath the layer of symbols.
