During the workshop for young folk enthusiasts we will learn a bit about spring caroling and make the most characteristic element of the Pucherok costume — a tall, conical hat made of cardboard, richly decorated with colorful crepe-paper “hair.”
Our hats will be modeled on authentic ones still seen today in the Bibice and Zielonki areas near Kraków, as well as on those from the collections of the Ethnographic Museum in Kraków.
We recall a story that has come full circle: once the Pucherok processions were heard in Kraków itself, from where centuries ago they were driven out to nearby villages. Today, thanks to our creative reinterpretation, this tradition symbolically returns to the city — just like Spring! The workshop is an excellent opportunity to prepare a costume under expert guidance and join the final Spring Awakening procession, which will walk through the streets of Kraków on March 28.
Participation in the event is free, but places are limited.

The Pucherok Hats craft-prop workshop will take place as part of the public task Spring Awakening - School of Living Traditions, co-funded by the City of Kraków and the budget of Żywa Pracownia.
Our socio-cultural projects can also happen thanks to you! Support our activities by contributing to the living, virtual collection box: skarbonki and help us create a meeting space inspired by tradition.
