We invite you to an intergenerational meeting of music and song, during which together we will loudly drive away the last traces of winter! We meet on a special day — March 25, when the calendar marks the Feast of the Annunciation, in folk culture called the feast of Our Lady Roztworna.
It was once believed that it was on this day that the Virgin Mary opens the earth, waking it from winter sleep so it can bear and green again in spring. We will help nature in this awakening — on the Annunciation the storks come!
At the helm will be Anna Psuty and Zofia Szyrajew from the band Fiksum Dyrdum — a well-matched duo of musicians, ethnologists and comedians. In their work they mix traditional tunes with circus arts and theatre, and they can make anyone sing, regardless of age. In this joyful commotion they will be accompanied by musicians from the Living Corpse Caroling Orchestra.
We won't just sit and sing — we'll roll up our sleeves to dress our spring Gaik together, a tree that was formerly carried through the villages to celebrate the arrival of the new summer. We will decorate it with colorful ribbons, crepe-paper flowers and everything that symbolizes awakening nature.
The open family meeting will take place as part of the public task Awakening Spring - School of Living Traditions, co-financed by the City of Kraków and the budget of Żywa Pracownia.
Our socio-cultural projects can also happen thanks to you! Support our activities by contributing to the living, virtual collection box: https://zywapracownia.pl/wesprzyj-nas/ and together with us create a meeting space inspired by tradition.
