We invite you to a unique concert where two musical worlds meet – Polish tradition and South Indian classical music – in original interpretations by violinist and singer Kasia Kapela and ghatam master Giridhar Udupa.
Giridhar Udupa
An internationally acclaimed artist and ghatam master, a global ambassador and icon of Carnatic music. He began studying music at the age of four under his father’s guidance. An outstanding practitioner of konnakol, he has over thirty years of stage experience. He has performed in more than 60 countries, appearing at Carnegie Hall, Sydney Opera House, the Kennedy Center, and Royal Festival Hall. He has collaborated with legends of the world music scene, including John McLaughlin (the supergroup SHAKTI) and tabla maestro Zakir Hussain. He is a co-founder of the band Layatharanga. In Poland, he is known for his collaborations with the band Saagara and with Michał Czachowski.
Katarzyna Kapela
Singer, violinist, performer, and composer. Co-founder of the award-winning trio Sutari, which for 14 years has explored Polish traditional music, polyphony, and experimental vocal techniques. Founder of the Wrocław-based Kapela Timingeriu (Jewish and Roma music). Since 2025 she has been associated with the Wrocław Improvised Orchestra and the Melting Pot project (Jazztopad). She has collaborated with Kapela Brodów, Gardzienice Theatre, Song of the Goat Theatre, Brave Kids, and Rebel Babel Film Orchestra on the soundtrack for the film The Peasants.
It will be an evening full of rhythm, improvisation, and intercultural dialogue. A meeting of traditions that – though rooted in distant worlds – discover a shared pulse.

The idea behind the Wielogłosy (Many Voices) series is to present projects in which the voice plays a central role. On the OKO stage, we host ensembles drawing on various musical traditions of our region: Polish, Jewish, Old Ruthenian, Ukrainian, Lithuanian, Serbian, and Yugoslav. We reach back to musical sources – rural, Orthodox, and Renaissance traditions. The series features both premiere concerts and projects that have already been presented elsewhere but are rarely heard in Warsaw today. The curator of the series is Maniucha Bikont.
