About the event

Every child knows that Warsaw lies on the Vistula. And although it’s a bit of a walk from Ochota to the river, all it takes is a tram or bus ride to find yourself by the water.

And if you sit by the Vistula, listen to the sound of its waves, and let your imagination wander, you may hear the most curious tales:
- About the raftsmen who know the river like the back of their hand
- About the Drowner who tempts children with promises of treasure
- About a very poor sandman and the squeaking Poverty that never lets itself be forgotten
- About little rusalkas with sharp teeth and green hair
- And about a lovesick Water Spirit gazing at us from the very bottom of the river…

We’ve been there. We’ve listened to these stories. And now we will tell them to you — and you can listen.

“Stories from the OKO Area” will be told by members of Group 501: Zuza Janiak and Roksana Pietruczanis.

29.03 | 12:00 PM
Ochota Cultural Centre, 75 Grójecka Street
Tickets available at the box office and online: tickets online

“Stories from the OKO Area” is a series of gatherings prepared by the Storytellers of Group 501. Who are the storytellers? They are people who share stories, folk tales, and legends — and all our tales are deeply rooted in our local area: Ochota and Warsaw.

Meetings with the Storytellers are not a performance — they are a journey through time and space, during which we discover the legends and stories of our district. Sitting on comfortable cushions, in a warm and intimate atmosphere with gentle music in the background, everyone can feel the magic of storytelling. It’s a moment of relaxation and shared discovery for the whole family.
