On the grounds of Sadyba Oficerska and the Garden City Czerniaków lies the longest gas lantern trail in Warsaw. Much of the walking route will be illuminated by gas lanterns. We will check to what extent the original assumptions of the garden city designers were realized and what has been preserved to this day. We will wander among villas built before World War II in an area less known than Żoliborz Oficerski or Dziennikarski. At the end of the 19th century, Ebenezer Howard developed the concept of the garden city. According to it, dozens of projects were carried out worldwide. The most famous realization in the Warsaw area is the garden city Podkowa Leśna. We will visit Podkowa Leśna next time, but for now, we invite you to a walk within Warsaw to see to what extent Howard's ideas were implemented in the garden city Czerniaków and who initiated the construction of Sadyba Oficerska. During the walk, we will see, among other things, a 19th-century manor house, the place where Janusz Kusociński defended Warsaw in September 1939, the edge of a nature reserve, an Armenian khachkar, a locomotive monument, and above all, we will learn about the fate of people in the 1920s who created the community of the garden city Czerniaków and Sadyba Oficerska.
