Trip to Silesia, where we will tour Nikiszowiec, the most picturesque district of Katowice, with a guide. We will also visit the Tyskie Książęce Breweries, a unique site with a 400-year history, ending the tour with a beer tasting. PROGRAM - Meeting in Warsaw at 05:30 at the bus stop at 47 Emilii Plater St. - On the way, we will pick up participants from Łódź – meeting at 07:45 at the BP station, 1 Kątna St., where we plan a breakfast break - Transfer to Nikiszowiec, one of the most unique and atmospheric districts of Katowice, listed as a Historic Monument of Poland and recognized as a gem of the region's industrial heritage. It was built between 1908-1919 as a model workers' housing estate for the families of miners from the "Giesche" mine, designed by the Berlin architect brothers Zillmann. It is characterized by brick tenement houses with inner courtyards and narrow streets. We will take a walk through the estate, which has remained almost unchanged for over a hundred years. - We will also visit, with a local guide, the Katowice History Museum – City Ethnology Department, located in the building of the former laundry, mangle, and bathhouse, which is an integral part of the historic estate. - In Tychy, we will visit the Książęce Breweries, a gem of regional architecture and a modern facility where beer has been brewed continuously since its founding in 1629. Here, the recipes for Tyskie and Książęce beers were created. We will learn about the fascinating history of the Tyskie Książęce Breweries and the exceptionally strong, multi-generational bond between the local community and the Brewery. - The tour program includes a visit to the historic part of the brewery and a multimedia presentation about the secrets of the brewing art – from ingredient selection to the fermentation process. We will visit the old brewhouse and the modern bottling plant.
