The tour's name, referencing Krzysztof Kieślowski's world-famous film, is intentional.
The legendary Kieślowski remains a subject of admiration and many film-studies papers from China to Australia, Brazil and Canada. One reason for creating this tour were questions from cinema enthusiasts around the world about Kieślowski. I have encountered such questions for many years during my Kraków tours. Interestingly, I have often witnessed surprise that Poland does not erect monuments to him… Although, well, it is hard to be a prophet in your own country!
The aim of this tour is to present Kraków's second, cinematic life. We will see carefully chosen scenes from films at the locations where they were shot. It will also be an excuse to talk about around ten representative films that cover a large part of the history of Polish cinema.
I am a professional licensed guide in Kraków with 14 years of experience. Besides standard tours and dozens of themed routes, I have developed a "Schindler's List" route around Kraków and a tour through the Kraków ghetto following Polański and "The Pianist". I have also guided at the National Museum for a wonderful temporary exhibition on Andrzej Wajda's work. For six years I have been organizing regular meetings of the film club good movies with Paweł, where I present Polish masterpieces to an English-speaking audience. In other words, film tours combine my two passions: cinema and sharing knowledge about Kraków.
Tickets are required. They will be available soon.
See you on the film tour!
