    Speaker:



    • MSc Agnieszka Kułak — an experienced nurse and educator, specialist in geriatric and surgical nursing; since 2023 an examiner for the Regional Examination Board in Łódź for vocational qualifications: medical caregiver, child caregiver and assistant for a person with disabilities.
    • She conducts classes at the Medical School “Cosinus” in Kielce on a daily basis, continuously expanding her knowledge in gerontology.
    • In 2025 she was honored in local polls (Nurse of the Year — 2nd place; Secondary School Teacher — 5th place).


    Topics:



    • 1. General concept of psychopathological syndromes – dementia
      definition and diagnostic criteria
      types of dementias (primary, secondary)
      basic symptoms and screening tests
    • 2. Alzheimer’s disease – the “disease of forgetting”
      pathogenesis and risk factors
      symptoms and stages of the disease
      course, prognosis, treatment
    • 3. Goals of nursing and caregiving activities
      improving the patient’s quality of life
      maintaining independence as long as possible
      preventing complications and isolation
    • 4. What a caregiver should know
      principles of communication with the patient
      organization of the day and hygiene routines
      simple forms of activation and supportive therapies
    • 5. How to ensure safety at home for the patient
      adapting the bedroom, kitchen and bathroom
      securing appliances and dangerous objects
      preventing wandering and accidents
    • 6. Caregiver burden for people with Alzheimer’s
      psychological and physical effects of caregiving
      coping strategies and external support
      the role of education and support groups

    • 10.00–10.10 — welcome of participants, introduction
    • 10.10–12.10 — online lecture
    • 12.10–12.25 — break
    • 12.25–13.50 — online lecture
    • 13.50–14.00 — Q&A session, test, end of classes
