Sherpas, famed for their strength and courage, are Himalayan guides, climbers and porters who live in Nepal at the foot of Mt. Everest. Their work on eight-thousanders and the risks they take bring fame to many who dream of the highest peaks. Because of that, Sherpas and their dedication are talked about around the world.

Would it have been possible to reach the world’s highest peak in 1953 without the participation of Sherpas? How do people live whose name is inseparably linked with high-altitude, often high-budget expeditions? Who are they? What do they dream about?

Magda Jończyk, traveler and photographer, for 13 years a guide and organizer of treks in the Himalayas and Karakoram, looks at the people who live in the world’s highest mountains with love and admiration. She spends summers and winters with them. She drinks salty tea and homemade moonshine. She dances. She hugs. She listens. She photographs. And then she tells their stories.

We invite you to an extraordinary tale illustrated with photographs from the Solukhumbu region of Nepal.
