Several times a year, artists associated with, among others, the Merkurial collective will appear at the Żoliborz House of Culture, including Robert Piotrowicz – composer and creator of the album Wrong Filament, which opens the catalog of this new artistic and publishing platform. Each event in the series will feature a dedicated visual setting by Sylwek Łuczak and invited guests, creating an immersive combination of sound, light, and space. Sunday Recognition is an offer for everyone who wants to experience electronic music in its most searching, experimental form. The first invited artist is Robert Piotrowicz – composer, improviser, and one of the most important figures in contemporary electroacoustic music. His work covers a wide spectrum: from solo performances on modular synthesizers, through compositions for instrumental ensembles, to theater and film music. Piotrowicz, known for albums such as Lincoln Sea, Afterlife, creates sounds of extraordinary intensity, complexity, and acoustic architecture. In 2024, the artist released the album Wrong Filament, which opens the catalog of the new Merkurial collective, founded together with Jacek Sienkiewicz. Piotrowicz also serves as the artistic director of the Sanatorium Dźwięku festival in Sokołowsko and has long been one of the most important curators and promoters of experimental music in Poland. *** Jacek Sienkiewicz (born 1976) is a Warsaw-based producer, composer, and performer, one of the pioneers and most important creators of the Polish electronic music scene. For over 25 years, he has been developing his unique sound, balancing between minimal techno, abstract ambient, and experimental contemporary music. Since the early 90s, when he started playing at Warsaw underground parties, he has been constantly redefining the boundaries of electronic music while remaining an original and distinct artist. In 1999, Sienkiewicz founded the Recognition label, which quickly became an important point on the map of electronic music, both in Poland and abroad. Recognition is not only a platform for his own releases – several albums and over 50 EPs – but also a space promoting young and experimental artists. The label's catalog includes releases by artists who today play a significant role in the development of Polish electronic music.
