EuroJAZZ Foundation and PROM Kultury Saska Kępa invite you to a meeting with elements of live music! 🎵 13.01, time: 19:00 🆓 free admission! Marcel Baliński – jazz pianist, composer, and cultural animator. Born in 1995 in Łódź, he remains strongly connected to this city as an artist. He was educated in classical and jazz directions, studying in Łódź, Kraków, and Bern. For years, he has been an important figure in the young Polish jazz scene. He was active in the Entropia Ensemble quartet, played with Jerry & The Pelican Systems and RASP Lovers, and collaborated with, among others, Zbigniew Namysłowski and Aga Zaryan. He also successfully leads his own trio – for the trio's album "Opalenizna i wiatr," recorded with Krzysztof Szmańda and Franciszek Pospieszalski, he received a nomination for the Fryderyk Awards 2023. A breakthrough in the pianist and leader's flourishing career came with an idea connected to the "Frajda" Occupational Therapy Workshops, where he works with people with intellectual disabilities. From this collaboration during classes, a regular music band emerged, in which the instrumental component (Rafał Różalski, Bartosz Szablowski, and the leader himself) and the vocal component (a choir of workshop participants and two actors – Magdalena Koleśnik and Bartosz Bielenia) cooperate on equal terms. Without division into amateurs and professionals, because in music not everything has to be perfect, and barriers – as Baliński said in a Polish Radio report – quickly disappeared. In this lineup, "he found what he likes most in music: truth and sincerity." This band, called WSPÓŁGŁOSY, began concert activity and published a full-length album in 2024, which was awarded a Fryderyk in the category Album of the Year – experimental jazz/contemporary improvised music in spring this year. Baliński convinced both critics and the audience of his idea. / free admission // online free / Poster: Kasia Stańczyk
