XIII FESTIVAL POLAND AT IMKA. AN UNUSUAL THEATER FESTIVAL GLIMMERS "Before execution, it is said that the condemned sometimes experience a moment of euphoria; the guards call this the last glimmer." William Shakespeare, “Romeo and Juliet”, translation by Stanisław Barańczak Sometimes, when we clean an old object, a mirror or a window, something suddenly shines. We notice things on the other side that we had already forgotten. Glimmers of memories appear. Different ones—painful and joyful—the deeper they reach into the past, the more surprising they are. "Glimmers" is a mirror play for every couple. The relationship shown on stage by Anna Romantowska and Daniel Olbrychski is a very long one. To say that everything happened in it is like saying nothing at all. We come to the theater each with our own sensitivity and different experiences. It is up to us which memory of the play's characters will amuse us, which we will find tragic, terrible, or silly. The author—Serge Kribus (those who saw his "Unexpected Return" with Daniel Olbrychski and Tomasz Karolak will agree with us)—is an excellent observer, and that's why we feel an almost intimate connection with his characters. Sometimes we are ashamed for them—because we acted similarly; other times we laugh because we see the reactions of our loved ones on stage. The world created by Agata Duda-Gracz transcends reality. It is like poetry, sometimes truer than a daily slice of bread with yellow cheese. Add to this live music by Wojtek Krzak and Maja Kleszcz, and we have a world we've never been in... or one we've always been in. Theater is contradictions and emotions. Darkness and glimmers. We invite you to a play about love. It is not a "romantic comedy," although it does not lack romance and smiles.
