About the event

Does history always have to revolve around kings and battles? Definitely not! In the “Out of Frame” series we explore female threads connected to Wilanów. This time we look at the fate of Maria Klementyna Sobieska — the granddaughter of Jan III, who married the “Old Pretender” to the English throne. Sounds like a period-drama plot? A bit — her life was full of drama, politics and great emotions.

During the meeting we will see what women's everyday life looked like in the 18th century, search for hidden stories in portraits and letters, and above all give the floor to a heroine who for years remained in the shadows.
