We invite you to participate in a series of philosophical meetings for those who want to get acquainted with the basics of philosophy in a "light" and accessible form. Schopenhauer saw a certain tragedy inherent in human life. A person constantly desires something, and as soon as they achieve their goal, they lose interest and begin to dream of something new. The philosopher believed that everything is governed by a blind force he called the will. It is this will that makes us constantly want something, but it is also the source of suffering, as it is impossible to satisfy all human desires. During the lecture, we will try to understand why, according to Schopenhauer, life resembles an endless pendulum between desire and boredom. We will also consider whether it is possible to break out of this vicious circle. Host: - Adrian Krupa – philosopher, PhD student at the Doctoral School of Humanities at the University of Warsaw, graduate of the Faculty of Philosophy at UW, educator, and teacher.
