We invite you to an author meeting with Izabela Tadra and a presentation of the German edition of the novel "Hotel ZNP" (published by Filtry), which won the Polish-German JOSEPHA award (2024)! We will say a few words about this distinction, and then we will talk about books, writing, translation, and many fascinating topics – literary and creative, maybe even controversies. The conversation will be led by Konrad Janczura – programmer, game enthusiast, writer, and critic. 📖 ABOUT THE NOVEL Hotel ZNP is probably the ugliest hotel in Warsaw. However, it has certain advantages: its windows offer a view of the Vistula River, and in the drawers of bedside tables, instead of Bibles, you can find crystal ashtrays. Additionally, it is located halfway between the homes of the main character and the man she is interested in. That’s why the couple chooses this establishment as their meeting place. Belcia, like Scheherazade, wants at all costs to capture the attention of her object of desire with an endless story about her past and present life, believing that as long as the story continues, there is still a chance for a happy ending. But is storytelling the right weapon in the fight for a successful life? "Hotel ZNP" has been staged at the New Theatre in Łódź, and soon you will be able to watch its adaptation on Television Theatre. The book has also been nominated for the prestigious Gdynia Literary Award. At the event, you will be able to purchase both editions of the novel and enjoy a glass of wine. The German translation was done by the excellent Andreas Volk, and the novel will be published in Germany by the prestigious Berlin publishing house led by Andreas Rostek. JOSEPHA is a German-Polish literary award established by the Berlin publishing house Edition fotoTAPETA and the association Crazy4culture: "to make new voices of Polish literature heard in Germany." The award is accompanied by a literary residency in the charming Ahrenshoop and the promotion of the German edition in Germany. 🔗 josepha-lit.org: https://josepha-lit.org 📺 There will be an online broadcast! 🔗 facebook.com/najlepszaksiegarnia: https://facebook.com/najlepszaksiegarnia 📅 When: 17.09., 7:00 PM. 📍 Where: The meeting will take place at Najlepsza Księgarnia, ul.
