
We invite you on a journey along the borderlands. In the winter atmosphere, we will trek along the border from Bohoniki to Kruszyniany in search of stories from the borderlands, Polish Tatars, and the prophet from Wierszalin! Along our route, we will also look out for bison grazing in the fields near Krynki. The trip will be led by Adrian Pogorzelski. 🔗 Registration: https://poludnik21.pl/tatarski-szlak-zubry-i-prorok 🗓 PROGRAM: - Gathering of participants on 7.02.2026 (Saturday) at 6:20 AM in the parking lot in front of the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw (parking in front of the "Kinoteka" cinema). - Departure at 6:30 AM towards Kruszyniany. Planned return to the same place around 9:30/10:00 PM. - KRUSZYNIANY – here we will visit the mosque of Polish Tatars and listen to stories about their history and traditions as well as the sacred functions of the mosque. Mizar – tour of the most beautiful cemetery of Polish Tatars. We will also learn about their funeral customs here. - STARA GRZYBOWSZCZYZNA – this will be an extraordinary part of the route, where we will enter a forest path leading towards Grzybowszczyzna. On the edge of the forest village, we will visit the forest Orthodox Church of the Nativity of John the Baptist, built thanks to Eliasz Klimowicz – the prophet from Wierszalin. - Note: we have about 5 km to walk along forest paths in total, remember to wear trekking shoes. - PROPHET'S HOUSE – a forest hike to the Wierszalin wilderness, where among the sounds of the forest we will hear echoes of prayers from the followers of the self-proclaimed prophet. Here, on a small hill, we will also see the foundations of the unfinished church. - IN SEARCH OF BISON – in the winter scenery, we will look for bison lazily grazing in the fields around Krynki, and tell you about the king of the Knyszyńska Forest. Note: it is worth bringing binoculars. - LUNCH WITH TATAR CUISINE DELICACIES – optional, extra charge of about 65 PLN/participant, menu proposal will be sent 7 days before the trip date. - BOHONIKI – here we will visit the wooden mosque of Polish Tatars. The first mosque at the current location was most likely built at the end of the 17th century.
