On Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 17:00, a one-day exhibition event will take place at the Galicia Jewish Museum in Kraków as part of the nationwide project “Traces of Forgetting,” carried out by the CosinusYoung ART High Schools of Fine Arts from Kraków, Katowice, Warsaw, and Wrocław.
The event is planned as an artistic dialogue between young people and the museum’s temporary exhibition “Unimaginable. The Void after the Great Synagogues” (running from November 30, 2025 to August 31, 2026). The presented student works — drawings and paintings — were created based on archival photographs and document synagogues that no longer exist in the cities listed above.
Each work is a personal, artistic attempt to “restore” buildings that disappeared from the landscapes of Polish towns, along with an important part of the history of local communities.
A special highlight of the event will be the presentation of the Łódź synagogue as a model produced with 3D printing technology by students of the Cosinus High School of Fine Arts in Kraków. The whole will be complemented by multimedia presentations that combine modern technologies with historical education and visual narrative. The event will be accompanied by a concert, which will complete the reflective character of the meeting.
The presence of the “Traces of Forgetting” project in the space of the Galicia Jewish Museum emphasizes the role of the younger generation in shaping contemporary cultural memory. It is evidence that art created by students of CosinusYoung 15+ schools can be a conscious, mature voice in a conversation about responsibility for a heritage that — though invisible — still demands remembrance.
“Traces of Forgetting” is an attempt to save what has been lost through image, form, and modern means of expression, while at the same time an invitation to reflect on the role of art as a tool of intergenerational and historical dialogue.
The second part of the “Traces of Forgetting” project will be presented in the outdoor exhibition space of the KL Plaszow Museum in May as part of the event MEMORY/REMEMBERING. The exhibition will include photographs taken by students of the CosinusYoung ART High Schools of Fine Arts, showing contemporary, empty or destroyed sites of former synagogues and Jewish spaces in smaller towns, complementing the reflection begun at the Galicia Jewish Museum.
