On Saturday, March 14, the Living Library Warsaw organized by the RUBIN Foundation will take place at the University of Warsaw Library (BUW) at ul. Dobra 56/66.
The Living Library works like an ordinary library.
A reader can come on the day the event is held to learn the story of a chosen Living Book. In this library, the books are real people, authentically representing minorities and social groups that are not fully accepted, and that often face prejudice and marginalization.
By borrowing a Living Book, the reader enters into a dialogue with them. Through such interaction, both sides have the opportunity to confront their assumptions with reality; they can find out what the world really looks like from the perspective of a person exposed to discrimination and exclusion.
At the Living Library you will meet people you probably do not encounter every day. You will be able to talk about topics that do not come up in everyday conversations. You can ask a Living Book anything, share reflections and together consider the extraordinary situation of ordinary people.
The Living Library is an emotionally charged encounter with another person — a face-to-face conversation, real personal stories that we do not usually have a chance to hear, and which have an incredible power to change thinking, break stereotypes and move us deeply.
