The first meeting inaugurates a series of workshops where African music will be experienced through singing, rhythm, improvisation and collective work with voice and body. The series includes 8 workshop sessions; each meeting will be a full, holistic music workshop. Meetings take place every two weeks. The joint work will culminate in an Afrochór concert during the Africa Days celebrations (24 May).
First meeting: 5 February, 18:00–20:00
Gather at the reception.

We invite you to experience music in its most natural form: through singing. Let’s create the Afrochór together!
Why a choir? Because music is a communal action – every voice is different, and it is diversity that builds harmony. Polyphony is not about perfection but about presence, listening to each other and sounding together. This is a space for everyone – regardless of experience.
We will learn without sheet music or notation, through listening and practice – just as oral tradition is passed on. We will learn songs in their original languages, including Amharic, Swahili, Hausa, Xhosa, Ndebele and Mandinka, taking care not only of the sound but also of the meaning and context of the pieces.
