About the event

We warmly invite you to take part in the international scientific conference “Feminae in umbra iuris”, devoted to women in ancient Rome — their legal, social and family status and the role they played in the Roman legal order.



Papers will be delivered in panels:



  • Mother of Rome
  • Bloodshed
  • Roman women's customs
  • The road to emancipation


There will also be an opportunity to hear a paper by Prof. Anna Tarwacka, and one of the panels will be held in English.

and that is just the beginning!



During the conference it will be possible to listen to nearly 30 papers and answer the question: Do women and Roman law have anything to do with each other?
