Japanese woodblock printing, mokuhanga, is a centuries-old traditional printmaking technique — the same one Hokusai used to create his masterpieces, including “The Great Wave off Kanagawa”.
The workshop will be led by Warsaw artist Helena Czernek. 📅 February 7, 2026
She will talk about this style of woodblock printing, show examples of notable works and the necessary tools. In the practical part the group will focus on learning how to pull prints using special Japanese brushes, pigments and baren (hand pressure tools). Participants will make several impressions from pre-carved wooden blocks. Finished works can be taken home.
⚠️ Due to the number of available blocks, only 6 people can take part in the workshop!
Cost of the workshop: 250 zł (all materials included)
