Krzysztof Ścierański is an outstanding bassist and composer, and also an excellent guitarist. Over 50 years of artistic activity he has been known as a member of famous Polish bands (Anawa, Laboratorium, Air Condition, String Connection) and as the leader of groups and projects such as Ścierański Surzyn Trio, Ścierański Trio, Music Painters, The Colors, New Quartet and Ścierański Quartet. He has collaborated with, among others, Marek Grechuta, Zbigniew Namysłowski, Wojciech Karolak, Krzesimir Dębski, Jarek Śmietana, Tomasz Stańko and Janusz Muniak; notable international artists who have appreciated him include Pat Metheny, Esperanza Spalding and Bobby McFerrin.

During his career he recorded 163 albums, including 12 solo albums. He composed soundtracks for films and theatre, experimented with sonoristic sounds and techniques, and is a pioneer of unique solo bass guitar recitals and a virtuoso of improvised music.

In September 2024 he was awarded the Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis and the Honoris Gratia bestowed by the Mayor of Kraków. In November 2024 he received the Pro Masovia medal awarded by the Marshal of the Masovian Voivodeship.
