    About the event

Join a walk following the footsteps of Bolesław Prus's “The Doll.” During the walk we will travel back in time to 19th-century Warsaw while viewing photographs from that era. Sunday, 15 February 2026, 14:00 — we meet at the Jan Kiliński monument (Podwale). Duration: about 1.5 hours. Where did Wokulski first see Izabela? Where did Rzecki meet those praying for success in the auction of the Łęcki tenement? Where was old Mincl’s shop located? Where did Wokulski give a banquet? What did Prus omit in the novel? How did Bolesław Prus propose to commemorate Mickiewicz? Why does the monument to Bolesław Prus stand on a low plinth? Where was the Gebethner and Wolff publishing house located? Where did Wokulski meet two women whom he soon helped in their life difficulties? In which building did Wokulski study? Where was Wokulski’s shop located? In which church did the baroness order three masses? Where was Wokulski’s apartment and what did he see from the window? No fee is charged for participating in the walk; if you feel the guide deserves a tip, they will be gladly accepted. The walk will be led by a city guide from Warszawski Zaułek. You are warmly invited and see you there.
