    About the event

    Ha‑Ga. ɪɴᴛᴇʀᴡᴇɴᴄᴊᴀ — Ha‑Ga. Social‑Drawing Life

From 10 February, together with Eliza Kącka, we enter the exhibition space Ha‑Ga. Social‑Drawing Life and, as part of ɪɴᴛᴇʀᴡᴇɴᴄᴊᴀ, enrich it with contemporary contexts by juxtaposing classic Ha‑Ga works with drawings by 19 young female authors nominated in the three editions so far of the Ha‑Gi Award competition.

ɪɴᴛᴇʀᴡᴇɴᴄᴊᴀ is not a simple comparison of styles or themes. It is a visual essay about the changing role of women artists in the Polish public sphere. A short story about how Ha‑Ga’s simple, social works, operating through allusion and understatement, opened the way for young artists engaged in feminist, identity, ecological and political topics. Polish female satire is not a homogeneous phenomenon but a dynamic entity in which experiences, strategies and attitudes overlap, with humor as the only constant — an age‑old and reliable critical tool.

The exhibition “Ha‑Ga. Social‑Drawing Life” presents the work of Anna Gosławska‑Lipińska, pen name Ha‑Ga, one of the most talented cartoonists of the 20th century, whose works published for nearly forty years in the weekly Szpilki amused successive generations of readers.

The exhibition consists of two parts. The first is aimed at adult audiences and addresses the complex relations between women and men, which the artist presented in humorous drawings called hagas. The second, family‑oriented part is dedicated to Ha‑Ga as an illustrator of children’s literature.

The display will feature over 200 works from the private collection of Ha‑Ga’s daughter, Zuzanna Lipińska, and from the holdings of the Museum of Caricature.

Exhibition curators: Agata Napiórska and Piotr Kułak. The graphic layer and the catalogue are prepared by Zuzanna Lipińska.
