The Montreal-based artist has long captivated with her distinctive voice and sensitivity, where classic folk meets gospel depth and soul expression. As a multi-instrumentalist (guitar, piano, ukulele, bass, charango) she builds a sound full of warmth and emotion. Her work has been recognized with, among others, three Polaris Music Prize nominations and five JUNO Awards nominations; international audiences fell in love with her since the 2007 debut album 'Oh, My Darling'. She has performed alongside St. Vincent, Sufjan Stevens and Nick Cave, and has appeared on NPR Tiny Desk Concerts as well as on shows hosted by Stephen Colbert and Jools Holland. She often visits Poland — in 2011 she played at Torwar in Warsaw opening for Arcade Fire, and in 2016 she performed on the Off Festival stage.
Her latest album 'Basia’s Palace' was released in February 2025 — the most intimate and searching record in her catalogue. The material was created at night in a home setting and co-created with producer Mark Lawson, and mixed by Tucker Martin (known for work with The National and Beth Orton). It is an album where dreamy electronics meet folk storytelling, and live performances of these songs become a personal, almost magical experience.
