Schedule:
- 📅 February 17, 2026 – L'amour braque (1985) Drawing inspiration from Dostoevsky’s “The Idiot,” Żuławski returns to one of the most important themes of his work — examining the dynamics of an emotional triangle, here written between young Mary (Sophie Marceau) and her lovers – gangster Micky (Tchéky Karyo) and the naive dreamer Leon (Francis Huster). Żuławski’s existential drama takes the form of a frantic music video (excellent music by Stanisław Syrewicz), in which anything can happen.
- 📅 February 24, 2026 – The Third Part of the Night (1971) The time of apocalypse has come. Poland is under Nazi occupation. Michał witnesses his mother, wife and little son being murdered by soldiers. Desperate, he seeks solace in sacrificial action: he joins the conspiracy and cares for a woman whose husband was arrested by the Gestapo. A brutal and at the same time poetic vision of the world during catastrophe.
- 📅 March 3, 2026 – The Most Important Thing Is to Love (1975) Andrzej Żuławski’s first film made in exile — the director left Poland (“It wasn’t me who left. I was made to leave”) after censorship stopped the premiere of his “The Devil.” The film was an immediate huge success, thanks in part to an excellent cast including Romy Schneider and the director’s characteristic frenetic style.
- 📅 March 10, 2026 – The Devil (1972) Żuławski’s second feature, set in a vision of Poland presented like a work of infernal spirit, starring Leszek Teleszyński and Małgorzata Braunek. The protagonists are shaken by convulsions of historical upheavals; political and domestic violence drive their bodies to epilepsy, amplified by energetic camera work. The film references “Hamlet,” “Kordian” and uses Andrzej Korzyński’s modern electronic music.
- 📅 March 17, 2026 – Possession (1981) West Berlin during the Cold War. Mark and Anna undergo a marital crisis caused by the man’s prolonged absence and the woman’s affair. The woman neglects their child and descends into increasingly extreme emotional states that make communication impossible. Mark tries to find out the cause of his wife’s strange behaviour and save their relationship.
- 📅 March 24, 2026 – On the Silver Globe (1987) Four astronauts — Marta (I. Bielska), Jerzy (J. Trela), Piotr and Tomasz — arrive on an alien planet resembling an uncivilized Earth to establish a new settlement. They cross a desert to reach the seashore. Jerzy keeps a video diary and gradually gains the status of the Old Man; he manages to send a video record into space.
