    About the event

We invite you to the headquarters of the National Film Archive – Audiovisual Institute for a special film review inspired by the list of the best films of 2025 compiled by the editorial team of the magazine “Ekrany”. This is a carefully selected set of titles from last year's theatrical distribution, presenting a wide spectrum of contemporary cinema — auteur visions by acclaimed filmmakers, daring debuts, and films that differ in genre, tone, and cultural background.

The selection of the ten best productions was based on the personal rankings of the editorial members: Dorota Jędrzejewska-Szpak, Kamil Kalbarczyk, Michał Lesiak, Michał Piepiórka, Remigiusz Różański, Marta Stańczyk and Barbara Szczekała. The program includes award-winning and distinguished films as well as titles that, amid a flood of premieres, went somewhat unnoticed.

The review will include, among others, screenings that combine horror with black comedy, musical cinema commenting on social tensions, productions set in historical costume used in various ways, as well as intimate chamber films about personal and social diversity. The review will conclude with a screening of the Oscar-winning Latvian animation "Flow" and a meeting with members of the editorial team, during which we will summarize the film year and discuss the most important events in the world of cinema.
