A journey across the seas and rivers of Asia and Oceania following traditional boats that, despite technological progress and globalization, are still built using age-old techniques. The talk focuses on watercraft used in transport, fishing and everyday life — places where boats have formed the basis of local communities’ functioning for generations.
The presentation will include cultural context and examples from the unique collection of the National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk, which comprises over 50 traditional boats from various regions of the world. The event is dedicated to human relationships with water and maritime heritage.
