October 7th at 6:00 PM More about the book: Why do so many women experience burnout, stress, and misunderstanding? When did ordinary emotions become symptoms? Why doesn't the system work—and what needs to change? Women are diagnosed with mood disorders twice as often as men, yet their suffering is trivialized, their emotions are pathologized, and treatment fails to deliver expected results. In 'It's Only in Her Head,' Misty Pratt, a Canadian science communicator and researcher, examines the relationship between mental health and social, cultural, and economic factors to expose systemic neglect in healthcare for women struggling with mental health issues. The author provides a thorough review of research but also draws on personal stories of women, including her own experience with depression. The book is a call to redefine mental health and take care of it on our own terms. Misty Pratt - Canadian science communicator and researcher.
