Dear Book Lovers!
You are warmly invited to the next meeting of our Reading Club — a place where we can freely talk about books that moved us, inspired us, or simply made our moments more enjoyable.
Meetings in our club are relaxed conversations about literature. Each meeting focuses on a chosen theme, and we share our impressions, discover different perspectives, and simply have a pleasant time with people who love reading.
You don't need to be an expert or even specially prepared — just a love of books and a willingness to join us.
In the reading club we move away from the traditional book-club formula. The aim of our meetings is to support reading in every form. We create a friendly space for wide meta-literary discussion.
Everyone interprets the meeting theme individually and chooses their own reading. The person who proposed the theme oversees the course of the discussion.
This is a non-oppressive approach to reading that does not impose a school-like discipline of reading and, regardless of reading competence and literary taste, allows people to present their reflections.
Thanks to this approach, reading-club meetings are not only an excuse to read a book, but also encourage deeper analysis of the work read, broaden participants' perspectives by confronting the views and opinions of other readers, and teach how to present one's opinions in a polite, open discussion.
All authors and all types and genres of literature are welcome: novels, reportage, fairy tales, articles and columns.
During each meeting there is also a book exchange — you can bring titles you don't plan to return to and take any number of interesting items.
Meetings take place on Thursdays, once every two months.
Due to the closure of the Krakowska 34 Foundation at the previous address, meetings are changing location.
The reading club operates on a pay-what-you-want basis. Proceeds from voluntary donations collected during the meeting are passed on to the Workshop where the meeting takes place.
The reading club is run by Martyna Wojtczak together with @niekrakusowska — a women's group.
