About the event

I invite you for a walk through one of Warsaw's largest parks — Skaryszewski Park, where more than a hundred years ago cows grazed carefree. The park, which in 2009 received the title of the Most Beautiful Park in Poland and was recognized as the third most beautiful park in Europe. The well-known Varsovianist Jerzy Kasprzycki wrote about Skaryszewski Park: here one feels an unmistakable natural Warsaw-ness that neither the Saxon Garden nor even Łazienki has (...) when I go to Kamionkowskie Lake today, I announce to my friends: I'm going to a real park.

We meet on Sunday, March 15, 2026 at 14:00 in front of the park entrance from the direction of Waszyngton Roundabout, next to the bust of Ignacy Jan Paderewski. The walk is planned to last about 1.5 hours.

During the walk we will find out:

  • What Ignacy Paderewski has to do with the Guinness Book of Records?
  • Where the park's name came from?
  • Whether you can feel rhythm in the park?
  • Which American diplomat was honored with a monument in the park?
  • Where to find the Faun on a Dolphin?
  • Why hare hunts were organized in the park?
  • How beavers in the park made a deal with thieves?
  • What beauty contest took place in Skaryszak?
  • Where dances used to be held in the park and who dances among the roses?
  • Which park sculpture used to be in Paris?
  • Where the "Liberator" fell?
  • What Margaret Thatcher and Elizabeth II were doing in Skaryszak?
  • Where to find a connection of tradition with modernity?
  • What the chapel was used for during World War II?
  • Where the Oak of Freedom stands?
  • and many more…

No fee is expected for participating in the walk, however if you consider that the guide deserves a tip (...).

The walk will be led by a city guide from Warszawski Zaułek. You are cordially invited and see you soon.
