Hybrydy Theatre of the University of Warsaw warmly invites you to the special performance "First Time".
An absurd comedy about the chaotic attempts of two young people who try to make their erotic initiation a perfect event, but fall into the trap of their own expectations and misunderstandings. The protagonists, She and He, obsessively stage a romantic scene in a block-apartment: night rain, a drenched visitor with a bouquet, tea to warm up, candles and wine. Each attempt ends, however, in a series of comic mishaps, from mutual apologies and accusations to grotesque visions and sudden mood swings.
Michał Walczak humorously and ironically portrays the contemporary dilemmas of young people in a big city, where everyday life in a maze of apartment blocks symbolizes being lost in emotions. Dialogues full of repetitions emphasize the absurd gap between dreams and reality.
"First Time" is a penetrating study of loneliness together, the pressure for perfection and, ultimately, the fleetingness of human memory. The play shows how memories of a shared experience can become a collection of conflicting narratives, dreams and fantasies that deform reality.
