In the tropics time flows differently.
We invite you on journeys, small and large! Maybe they will remind you of exotic holidays in warm climates? With us you can still count on lush greenery, intense flower colours and sweet scents. You certainly won't need to book plane tickets for these journeys.
We invite you to the Greenhouse of the UW Botanical Garden.
Dates of the walks:
What we'll see and talk about:
- Adaptations of plants to life in a humid tropical forest; climbing plants and those growing in tree crowns, including the large Aristolochia species with their peculiar trap-like flowers.
- Plants of the dry regions of South America and Africa: cacti and euphorbias.
- On artificial rocks: ferns, bird's-nest fern (Asplenium nidus), stag's-horn fern (Platycerium alcicorne) and epiphytic cacti (Selenicereus).
- Rare, exotic useful plants: ginger (Zingiber officinale), coffee (Coffea arabica), avocado (Persea americana), passionflower (Passiflora, known as passion fruit) and others.
