The Palace of Culture and Science turns 70! On this occasion, I invite you to the last walk of the season around the most recognizable building in Warsaw! Although we won't visit the underground, we will enter a place where 80-90% of walkers have never been. You will learn the history of the Palace of Culture and Science, but also... the story of this part of the city before its construction. During the walk, you will find out, among other things: - what is currently hidden within the Palace's walls - how many tons of steel, bricks, and stone were used to build it - how PKiN became so tall - how much time you'd need to spend one day in each of its rooms and how long it would take to clean all the windows - how many cinemas, museums, and theaters are in the building and which one had the longest way to get there - discover where Janusz Korczak's (last) orphanage was located - and meet the strangest "residents" of the Palace. There will surely also be stories about: - Leonid Brezhnev as... a drunken conductor - several of the most important concerts in the Congress Hall - the 15-meter monument to Joseph Stalin - who and why jumped from the viewing terrace on the 30th floor - the Millennium Clock - and many, many other curiosities! The walk will start at the CENTRAL SQUARE, opened in June! ✨ Sunday, October 19, 2025 🕓 16:00–18:00 📍 Start: Honorary Tribune at Central Square (Plac Defilad) Guide: Jakub Paradowski, PTTK guide Free admission! But... surprise the guide (just as he will surprise you!) and leave him a tip – in cash or via Blik No registration required – just come! Bonus: opportunity to get a commemorative wooden coin ⚠️ NOTE: After the walk, there will be an opportunity to go up to the 30th floor of the Palace of Culture at the group ticket price – 20 PLN (instead of 28 PLN individual price) – if a group of at least 10 interested people gathers.
