Confusion Project is a band formed by Michał Ciesielski, a composer, arranger and jazz pianist from Gdańsk. He graduated from the Academy of Music in Gdańsk. In addition to Confusion Trio, he also performs with his Michał Ciesielski Trio. With Confusion Project he has released five albums and three solo records: “Between Black & White”, “Share Location” (premiered as support before Hiromi’s concert in Gdańsk) and “Racing Thoughts”.
He has collaborated and performed alongside musicians such as Maciej Sikała, Krystyna Prońko, Maciej Grzywacz, Grzegorz Nagórski, Cezary Paciorek, Rafał Sarnecki, Stanisław Słowiński, Cezik, Victor Bastidas Rodriguez, Simona de Rosa, Li Xiaochuan and Brian Fentress. He is the artistic director and composer of the “European Jazz Encounters in China” project.
Confusion Project will present material from the upcoming album IDENTITY in a pre-release performance. The prog-jazz trio from the Tri-City, known for concept albums like PRIMAL and LAST, this time draws on Polish folk, weaving its elements into their characteristic musical narrative. The material on the sixth studio album is both a return to the musicians’ cultural roots and an attempt to define their musical identity. The program will include original mazurkas, heavier rhythms, daring harmonies and expanded forms typical of their earlier albums.
Confusion Project is one of the longest-standing and most active jazz formations from the Tri-City. They have played hundreds of concerts in Poland and abroad (including Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Kazakhstan, China). Their music blends jazz with rock, classical and film music, containing illustrative elements used to tell stories through music.
