Zajezdnia at ul. św. Wawrzyńca 15. March 21 (Saturday), 17:00.
On the occasion of International Poetry Day we invite you to a meeting with Agnieszka Wiktorowska–Chmielewska, a poet and visual artist working across various fields and connected with Nowa Huta.
The starting point for the exhibition “Codes and Ciphers” was the word: Freedom. While creating the series, the artist decoded its meanings and expressions in various ways. Freedom as a mental and spiritual state of the individual, awareness and responsibility for oneself, one's time, role in society, and model of existence. Exploring obvious areas and those that might seem abstract, such as art, passion, technological development, and travel, she sought to show that life is a matter of choice, and choice is a derivative of freedom and its inseparable right. The codes used to create and interpret the poems became the corresponding photographs and the titles and their arrangement – each contains the word “WOLNO”, which was inflected and expanded in different ways. What did the artist decode, and what did she cipher? Can words and images, like mathematical formulas, elicit a specific result?
The meeting will be deepened by a loud reading of the Author's poetic texts, to which event participants will also be invited. The meeting will take place as part of the Month of Krakowian Women. The detailed programme of all events is available here.
