Does Poland belong to the East or the West? Or perhaps – as history suggests – it constitutes a completely separate world, developing at its own pace, with a unique political culture, religious tradition, and system specificity? Situated between these two areas, it developed at a different pace from them, differing in its system, political culture, and religious character. This distinctiveness is revealed throughout the history of Poland, from medieval times, through the modern era and Enlightenment, up to the present day. During Grzegorz Górny's lecture, we will try to understand where Poland's developmental distinctiveness comes from and how it has influenced our history – from the Middle Ages, through the modern era and Enlightenment, to contemporary times. This meeting will be an opportunity to look at the history of Poland from a broad European perspective and ask ourselves: who are we between East and West? The Academic Corporation Plateria Varsoviensis cordially invites you! ✨ October 22, 2025, 7:00 PM 📍 Faculty of Sociology, University of Warsaw, room 18, 18 Karowa Street (Warsaw) 🆓 Free admission _____________________________________ Grzegorz Górny, essayist, publicist, director, film and television producer, author of many books published in 29 editions in 12 languages (including 9 books published in English in the USA).
