Concert "Thundered, Collapsed". Odpoczno plays carols Carols and pastorals, thanks to their universality, are often the only contact with traditional culture – especially for those who turn away from it with distaste in everyday life (and then, in front of neighbors, roll their eyes at the mere mention of it). Nevertheless, it is precisely these songs that involuntarily co-create the Polish skeleton and bloodstream. The band Odpoczno does not break or sever it. On the contrary – the traditional music of central Poland is the foundation on which they have created their unique musical language. Their method remains unchanged: traditional melodies, which they first become familiar with, are subjected to constant experimentation, as people who are always curious about what might be just beyond the horizon. The madness of searching – it should be added – is appreciated. Their album "Dryf" won the title of Folk Phonogram of the Nowa Tradycja Festival for 2022. So experimentation will not be lacking this time either. One should not expect coloratura or classical sounds from them. Instead, this year, under the Christmas tree in the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio of Polish Radio, more or less known carols and pastorals will resound, woven from oberk quotes, synthesizers and electronic drums, guitar riffs, and noisy, rural violins. Sometimes psychedelic, sometimes pulsing with the rhythm of a village party that suddenly, out of nowhere, moves to a techno club.
