Zbigniew Preisner – one of the most outstanding Polish composers – together with his Friends, will return to the stage after a three-year break to present listeners with a moving series of Christmas carol concerts. We will hear the most beautiful, reflective holiday pieces performed by Polish artists. 🎶 In January 2026, "Old and New Carols" will resound in five prestigious concert halls in Poland, including the Teatr Wielki - Polish National Opera in Warsaw. The beginning of the new year will once again be marked by exceptional musical gatherings. The Zbigniew Preisner and Friends tour, "Old and New Carols," are events that have filled halls for years and left listeners with unforgettable emotions. On stage, alongside Zbigniew Preisner, will appear his regular collaborators and friends: - Beata Rybotycka - Maciej Balcar - Edyta Krzemień - Joanna Pocica - Jan Karpiel-Bułecka with his highlander band The soloists will be accompanied by an instrumental ensemble composed of outstanding virtuosos, who together will ensure the unique atmosphere and musical dimension of these evenings. The concert repertoire will include both the most famous and beloved Preisner compositions, such as the iconic "Carol for the Absent," as well as other newer and older pieces – all filled with reflection, melancholy, and a relevant message. Their origins date back to the legendary Piwnica pod Baranami, where they were created and first performed for the local Krakow audience. These are not classic carols about Christmas trees and angels, but pieces that deeply touch on universal matters – transience, hope, community, as well as the personal experiences of the composer himself. "Carols are, in fact, the story of my life and what has happened in Poland," Zbigniew Preisner emphasized during previous concerts. "When times were joyful, more cheerful pieces were created, and when difficult moments came, sadness and reflection also appeared in the carols. That is why so many people find their own emotions and memories in them." One of the most important areas of Zbigniew Preisner's work, alongside film music, is precisely carols – extremely personal and thought-provoking. His first album of carols was released 26 years ago, and in 2015 the composer expanded it with new pieces with lyrics by Ewa Lipska and Jan Nowicki. Today, they are an inseparable part of the artist's legacy and delight new generations of listeners every year.
