Book premiere.
We invite you to an author meeting with Magdalena Żelazowska. Host: Karolina Walczowska, journalist at Onet Podróże.
On this February evening we will look behind the façade of the myth of the American dream. For the protagonists of Magdalena Żelazowska’s book, America — a land of promise and unlimited opportunities — turns out to be an experience closer to everyday life, requiring sacrifices and difficult choices. The heroines broke through the charming illusion and experienced how the American dream really plays out. We will listen to true and extraordinary stories in which, alongside spectacular careers and great passions, there are moments of doubt, uncertainty and loneliness.
In the pages of the book we meet, among others:
Each of these women experienced America differently: for some it was a stage, for others a world of new possibilities, a second home or a place that taught them to fight for their own dreams. The heroines are united by the courage to cross geographical, social and the most personal boundaries.
During the meeting we will examine the often unexpected, twist-filled and tension-laden life paths of the heroines and how emigration shaped their fate and identity. The author will also speak about her own experience of living abroad and about pursuing dreams despite fear, uncertainty and the costs associated with changing one’s life.
Books will be available for purchase on site. Guests will receive gifts in the form of bookmarks.
