The meeting will be led by Ewelina Adamik.
Monika Muskała's debut novel, an outstanding translator of German-language literature, essayist and playwright, is written in the form of a road novel. A Polish photographer and a French journalist set out together on a journey through the American provinces. She, the protagonist-narrator — after years working in a Vienna gallery — wants to return to photography; he — follows contemporary America from the reporter's perspective. “Rondo Rodeo” is an intertextual and multilayered story about entanglements in history and about the subtle yet tense relationship between a woman and a man.
Monika Muskała — writer and translator. For literary translations (including Thomas Bernhard, Elfriede Jelinek, Werner Schwab) she was awarded the Karl Dedecius Prize and the ZAIKS prize. For the essay “Między Placem Bohaterów a Rechnitz. Austriackie rozliczenia” she received the JULIUSZ award and was also nominated for the NIKE and GDYNIA awards. Together with her sister, Gabriela Muskała, she created five plays under the pseudonym Amanita Muskaria. Currently the play “Kofman. Podwójne wiązanie”, which she wrote together with Janusz Margański, is staged at the Nowy Theatre in Warsaw.
Ewelina Adamik — PhD in humanities, literary scholar and critic, she has published in, among others, “Dwutygodnik”, “Odra” and “Nowe Książki”.
