    About the event

10th Festival of Abstract Thought 🗓️ October 22-26, 2025, Jazdów Estate, Warsaw FROM THE BELLY. Body, corporeality, materiality. The program is already on the website: https://www.fma.waw.pl/ Workshop – registration is closed, there are no more spots available, and the waiting list is also full. Thank you for your interest! Thinking (in) motion: seeking bodily community 🗓️ Saturday, 25.10.2025 🕛 12:00-14:00 Open Studio Jazdów ATTENTION! For the workshop, wear comfortable clothes in which you feel at ease during movement and bring water to drink! During the workshop, we will explore, both in movement and stillness, the topic of community and how we create it through bodily interactions between what is human and non-human. We will use body practices derived from contemporary dance, performance, martial arts, and techniques aimed at expanding mindfulness. Using these tools, we will examine how bodily dependencies and relationships are formed. We will look at how the environment we live in and the changes occurring within it affect our perception, movement, and thinking. We will investigate what it means to be part of the environment and what the process of exploration is. Through calm, mindful walking, we will gradually awaken our senses, attuning ourselves to changes in our surroundings. We will also consider why the state of relaxation and experiencing pleasure is essential for expanding ways of thinking, perceiving, and moving. Bartosz Mroczkowski – the dancing philosopher. He obtained a PhD in humanities with a specialization in philosophy based on his dissertation "Conceptualizations and practices of the body from the perspective of posthumanism and new materialism" (2021). In his research, he uses a transdisciplinary perspective, combining broadly understood philosophical knowledge with body practices in which he develops (martial arts, dance, performance, meditation, etc.), aimed at expanding bodily awareness and mindfulness in movement. His research interests focus on posthumanism, new materialism, aesthetics of existence, with particular emphasis on issues of corporeality/materiality and related experiments. He co-creates the collective "In Contact," which practices contact improvisation dance. He has published in "Czas Kultury," "Praktyka Teoretyczna," "Avant," the scientific series "Scripta" IFK UW. In cooperation with the publishing house słowo/obraz terytoria, he is preparing a book entitled "Ciałokrewieństwo." He is also a cultural worker and philosophical advisor.
